Un homme ou une femme vont \u00eatre faciles \u00e0 classer car un homme est masculin et une femme est f\u00e9minine. En revanche, un stylo et une chaise\u2026 c\u2019est abstrait. Que dit-on ?<\/p>\n<p>L\u00e0 o\u00f9 le fran\u00e7ais attribue un genre \u00e0 des noms, figurez-vous que l\u2019anglais prend en compte <strong>le genre r\u00e9el d\u2019un nom<\/strong>. Ainsi, le masculin va toujours indiquer un humain ou animal de sexe masculin, et le f\u00e9minin va toujours \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour un humain ou animal de sexe f\u00e9minin. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The headmistress came and <strong>she<\/strong> was furious.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en\">The policeman stopped the girl and <strong>he<\/strong> told <em>her<\/em> to put on a helmet.<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qu\u2019en est-il du mot <span lang=\"en\">it<\/span> ? Celui-ci appartient au troisi\u00e8me genre dit neutre, parce qu\u2019<strong>en anglais ni les objets ni les concepts ne portent un genre<\/strong>. Le m\u00e9chant est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par un clown mais \u00e0 l'origine il s'agit d'une entit\u00e9 extraterrestre dont on ignore l'apparence. Par manque de connaissance sur ce qu\u2019est vraiment ce m\u00e9chant, on l\u2019a baptis\u00e9 <strong><span lang=\"en\">It<\/span><\/strong> !<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/blog-content.bilingueanglais.com\/uploads\/2020\/08\/it-this-that-stephen-king-it.png\" alt=\"It, this or that\" \/>\n<em>Comment dire \u00e7a en anglais ?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Comme la langue de Shakespeare est complexe, <strong>il y a des exceptions \u00e0 retenir<\/strong>. Il ne faut donc pas penser que <span lang=\"en\">this<\/span> et <span lang=\"en\">that<\/span> peuvent remplacer <span lang=\"en\">it<\/span> dans tous les cas car <span lang=\"en\">this<\/span> et <span lang=\"en\">that<\/span> sont des <strong>pronoms<\/strong> mais aussi des <strong>adjectifs<\/strong> selon le contexte. En tant que pronoms d\u00e9monstratifs, <span lang=\"en\">this<\/span> et <span lang=\"en\">that<\/span> seront toujours plus pr\u00e9cis que le mot <span lang=\"en\">it<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Le pluriel<\/strong> de <span lang=\"en\">this<\/span> est <span lang=\"en\">these<\/span> alors que le pluriel de <span lang=\"en\">that<\/span> est <span lang=\"en\">those<\/span>. On note que dans les quatre cas, le \u2018th\u2019 se prononce comme dans le mot <span lang=\"en\">the<\/span> non comme dans le mot <span lang=\"en\">think<\/span>.
